There is similar in the bathroom. We are in mains combo boiler. I've not seen similar before.

Curious.

What are these wires under my sink please?

It's an earth wire. To take the hit of a lightning strike and earth it so it doesn't follow all the metal pipework round your house.

I think.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 22/03/2020 12:42

Earth bonding for copper pipes.

FixTheBone · 22/03/2020 12:43

@willowpatterns

This, and it also earth's any static accumulation, and if the pipework were to become live through a faulty appliance or a short.

willowpatterns · 22/03/2020 12:45

@FixTheBone Was I at least partly right? Crikey!

TheSandman · 22/03/2020 12:47

They are supposed to be there. Green and Yellow is Earth. And not just lightning strike. All the metal worksurfaces / work stations at a commercial kitchen I worked in were earth-bonded like this presumably in case of electrical faults with equipment.

Leave them where they are.

Thank you all!

I'm not going to remove them. I just wanted to know what they are. Good to
Know. X

Next time you have electrical work done, I would get an electrician to look at it and change it. From the picture, they don't seem thick enough to comply with current regulations. It would also be a good idea to check that your heating and fuel supply pipes are also bonded.

TheClitterati · 22/03/2020 15:57

Thanks I will do that. The wires are fairly thick and stiff.
