What happens if you never clean a toilet?

I inspected a rental property today and there was a ring under the rim of the toilet, about 1.5-2". A pink ring, as detailed in Dr Seuss' classic book.

I asked them to put bleach down and they nodded as if they understood.

What happens if this toilet is never cleaned? Will this ring be capable of being cleaned?

I will be back in a month and if it's still the same I will more forceful in my instructions. But what are the consequences? And should I go back before a month?

@longearedbat did you manage to get it looking white again?

@Fivefourthree it doesn't even need to be done once a day.... Bleach squirted round once a week would suffice!

When we moved into this house we couldn't even chip the limescale off the loos/ sinks/ bath, never mind Viakal it off. We ended up changing the lot. Very hard water here though.

your qestion is "What happens if you never clean a toilet?"

forgive my sense of humour, it would kill covid-19 in one strike.

@namechangervaver - I didn't even attempt it! He lived in a housing association flat and was a hoarder amongst many other problems. I would imagine they had to strip and renew all the fixtures after he died. Actually it was very sad seeing someone you love content to live in such filth and chaos.

It ends up like the one in the flat we bought - so disgusting with brown encrustations, I doubt even a couple of kilos of caustic soda would have sorted it.

Vinegar is the best thing to remove this
