Anyone thinking they might escape to the country when this is all over?

Just that really. Once the world comes back to normal, whenever that may be, anyone think this might prompt life changes and moves?

Obviously some will, sadly, be forced is businesses don’t survive. But beyond that - is anyone thinking it’s time to move/ make life changes etc?

People will still need jobs, most of those are in cities and long commutes are crap.

No. I need to be around people, transport, shops, cinemas, theatres.. where I live I can easily visit the country, and the sea, I have a caravan in the coast (which I am not at!), but I am a city person at heart.

My friends parents moved to the country last year, to a very beautiful, but very rural house. They are now struggling, and were looking to move back closer to town before all this.

I read your thread title as "escape the country" to which my first thought was- yes please! Somewhere with a decent government like Scandinavia or New Zealand would be great.

Yes yes this. New Zealand is my latest fantasy place to live!

Good god no. I’m so grateful to be in a big city, no issues with supplies of anything.

No issues where I am in the countryside either!

No. What the fuck would I do in the middle of nowhere. At least in the city I've got the chance of finding work.

I like where I live despite it being fairly ugly. Once this is over I will be glad to get 'back' to my town and its people.

I feel really sad that not everyone will make it and that some will suffer financially, emotionally and physically over the next few months.

If anything this situation has made me value what I have more than ever.

So glad I live in a rural but well connected area, best of both worlds. I am seeing pictures on the news of empty supermarkets but our local co op and butchers are providing everything we need. They’ve even got loo rolls.
All of the local shops are providing phone ordering and free delivery services for those isolating for whom they are the nearest shop. We also have tonnes of Facebook/WhatsApp groups of people offering help getting prescriptions etc.
I can walk out of my door and very quickly get to a scenic area with very few other people around. I would hate to be in an area where I couldn’t feed my family or get fresh air at the moment. We even have super fast broadband as we have fibre and not many people using it.

I want to buy a house and not have a mortgage. I'd been thinking this anyway but want it more than ever now.
