PLEASE help me with bathroom paint colour! 🙏

New bathroom. Warm grey tiles plus a feature wall in the shower of pale wood effect tiles. Ceiling is pure white. I've tried all kinds of pale greys but they're just too cold and stark. Chalk white is the light colour on the pics. The darker colour is Lancelot and it's a lovely colour but it's too gloomy and close to the colour of the tiles. What on earth should I try next? Something warmer? Something more like the wood tiles, like a beige? Greige? Any suggestions very gratefully received!!

Try Farrow & Ball, Old White. It's a warm colour and works well in bathrooms.

Dulux Just Walnut could work. A light neutral but a bit warmer than grey.

wowfudge · 15/03/2020 07:48

A contrasting colour rather than a grey? Have you tried matching the tile colour to a paint shade and seeing what is suggested to go with that colour? The Dulux website is good for that.

Veterinari · 15/03/2020 07:50

Duly chic shadow is a warm pinky grey
Or I'd contrast with a deep plum to add warmth

Imtoooldforallthis · 15/03/2020 07:50

Dulux soft montilamar, blush noisette, heartwood

Dulux have a nice shade called rock salt that goes with grey and another called timeless which is very pale white/cream

F&B Strong White. A very pale grey.

NearlyGranny · 15/03/2020 07:54

What veterinarian says! I did a total refit and layout change of our bathroom to give us separate tub and shower and ended up with a lot of fey and white. I painted a small feature wall (behind the toilet) in a deep burgundy and the rest of the walls in the palest blush of dusky pink. It warmed things up no end.

NearlyGranny · 15/03/2020 07:56

Veterinari, sorry. Autocorrect.

Movistar · 15/03/2020 07:57

I second strong white. Had very similar tiles in my last house and I loved the warmth that strong white seemed to bring to the grey without clashing with the tiles.

Barkingfuckingdogs · 15/03/2020 08:11

I've tried Hardwick white, didn't like it at all. Thanks for the suggestions. I've added a couple to the list of samples to try. I don't think anything burgundy or pink is for me. It would probably look wonderful and I'm missing a trick but it's just not appealing to me.

I was also going to suggest Dulux rock salt. Not sure if you can buy it in DIY stores, but it’s available at the dulux decorator stores. It’s a lovely pale grey and I don’t think it’s cold or stark.

hairyxmasturkey · 15/03/2020 10:03

Yeah we have a similar bathroom and have gone for a very pale grey

OliviaBenson · 15/03/2020 12:21

I'd go for a turquoise/Blue colour rather than a grey or white. Smile

Mummyshark2018 · 15/03/2020 13:46

I'd go for a contrasting colour like a teal blue

wowfudge · 15/03/2020 15:13

Mummyshark that was my initial thought, but I've just bought teal paint for a bedroom!

flirtygirl · 15/03/2020 15:30

I would do white like the ceiling or something blue, like duck egg or pale teal.

I would have gone light touch of pink but op has said that's not for her.

Definitely no greys or beige as it all becomes too dingy.

Navy and emerald green would work but you would have to be brave.

Barkingfuckingdogs · 15/03/2020 17:09

I'm not a huge fan of bold primary colours, so I don't think blue or teal etc would work for me. I think I might stick with Hardwick white on a couple of walls and white on a couple of others for now.

We will be redoing our wetroom in the next few months. I have bought the tiles which are light grey. I am undecided between white, ochre, teal or a deep purple. If I go white I will add colour via towels, pictures and plants.

That said the wetroom currently has white wall tiles and a blue floor and strong blue paint where it isn't tiled. The blue is great against pictures in white frames and pink. I don't really do pink so haven't used that.

However, the blue definitely makes the wetroom non boring.

We intend to stay in this house for years so I can have it how we want it as it will be redecorated multiple times before we move again. I will probably choose white and then if I don't like it over time repaint it.

tothesea · 15/03/2020 20:53

I would go for a soft green/sage but then I love green!

Barkingfuckingdogs · 19/03/2020 10:19

Slaked lime deep from Little Greene won the day, plus a bit of Lancelot from B&Q.
