Anti money laundering requirements

Original bank statements...... (When you bank online)
Original will (from 9 years ago)
Solicitor’s correspondence confirming amounts due from legacy...
Confirmation that inheritance was paid, and how....

Who keeps all these things?

Blooming regulations - make honest people work hard, and the criminals pay people to fake it all for them

I’m property lawyer so I can understand your frustration. You may be able to print off your bank statements from your online banking.

Henryloveseatinglego · 11/03/2020 09:34

If not online you can request them from the bank for a fee .

you can get a copy of a will from the probate office

www.gov.uk/search-will-probate

only use the "gov.uk" website, others are scammers.

Solicitor won’t accept statements printed from online.

I have asked bank about providing printed statements, and solicitor whether the download from the probate service is acceptable.

It’s still a frustration. And probably several fees, because we are talking multiple old statements to give a full picture. Plus, I’ve just received a £90 penalty notice for driving in a bus lane, increased from £60 because I didn’t pay within 28 days. I’m not disputing I did it (unintentionally, not used to driving in that city), but I never received the original penalty notice.

Oh well. There are worse things happening in the world.

I know. It’s a real pain in the arse, and frustrating as I reckon any semi-competent money launderer will know how to work their way round this, while the rest of are chasing our tails to prove that our money is our own!

Just heard back from our solicitor that she will be happy with a formal letter from the solicitor who handled the estate confirming amounts paid and to whom. That simplifies part of the proceedings at least. For a price.
