Looking for advise on induction hobs.
I have Seen induction hobs with 13 amp plug are they any good compared to hard wired ones. I have looked online but the reviews are so mixed x

An induction hob on a 13A plug must be one ring only?

A four ring induction hob will be somewhere around 5-7kW and need 6mm dedicated cable and large 45A double-pole isolation switch. Needs an electrician to install.

I was hoping to get away with only hardwiring the cooker but been told by electrician I will need 2 x 6mm cables. I don't understand why I can't wire both appliances in same unit x

A 13 amp induction job will just be a bit slower than a 16 or 20 amp one. Read the specs on the different types and it will explain it all. 13 amp is fine we sell loads of them.

You can't use one wire for both because they're physically separate units - you can't daisy chain them. If you went mad and did, you'd need to run a 12mm cable from the distribution board to the first one to supply enough power for both at once.

The best ones are 32a. Others will be slow if you use more than 2 burners. 13a I just wouldn’t consider. Which Best Buy is your best guide. Bosch do a decent 16a one. If you shop around, there are excellent 32a ones for not much more and I’d definitely hard wire it. It’s pretty penny pinching not to!

Used a single induction hob in a b&b I was impressed by how quickly it heated up the coffee pot . far quicker that a electric kettle . I've been told more economical then kettle but never worked it out . only down side any cooking pot had to in perfectly center to work and not very adjusted compared to gas .
It was a table top 13amp plugin

We had one installed about a year ago as part of a new kitchen. It is wired separately to the consumer board, think because of safety reasons. We do have an isolator switch for it, but no plug. It's great and much better than the old ceramic hob.
