Hello,

My DH and I are thinking about putting an offer on a property in Horley but would love som opinions from those currently living there or have lived there on what it’s like? The commute is good for both of us as we have to go into London but are looking for a good area for kids one day.

Any help would be great appreciated!!

It seems relatively good value for property while still having good rail links to London

Horley is okay but a bit dull. It is very affordable for Surrey (is just in Surrey, above Sussex border) and has the main shops if a small town, but isn't very exciting. It doesn't have the nice shops and cafes of Reigate or the big shops of Crawley, or the feeling of being on the edge of somewhere lovely. It's quite non-descript and unoffensive, like most places in reality are. It's a small town with your usual stuff and nothing great or awful. There are some okay schools and there are things to do and places nearby. It has some new estates and houses and some older ones too. A big new development is being built at Westvale Park.

Lots of people seem to go to Horley who can't quite afford Redhill or want a bigger property than they would get in Redhill or certainly Reigate. people might go there who don't like Crawley or prefer a smaller place. People choose it as its closer to Lomdon and has good transport links so is quicker than Horsham or Burgess Hill or Brighton. There aren't lots of things that are great about Horley as an individual place in my view. But then most of the U.K.isnt widely exciting and most people live in those places perfectly happily.
