Glass splash back behind range cooker

We’re in the final stages of kitchen planning and I’ve seen a glass splash back I think will look really good. The only problem is it says there needs to be a minimum of 50mm between the back of the hob and the splash back. I can see when a hob is fitted in to a worktop that’s easy enough to do but what about range cookers? Don’t they just go all the way back to the wall and whatever is on it? Has anyone done this? It’ll be an induction hob on a 90cm range if that makes any difference.

I have a glass splash back behind my range and the cooker is pushed all the way up to the wall. Never been an issue and it’s been up for 2 years. Obviously just make sure the adhesive is 100% dry before using the cooker.

(My hob is gas btw)

We've got a gas hob with a glass splashback right behind it, wasn't aware it was an issue?

I looked into this with a gas hob - a normal worktop simply isn't deep enough so our splashback is made of tiles.

the issue is that the glass could crack from the heat, it is the distance from the nearest flame (and hot pans) that matters.

Thanks all. I’ve checked a few different ones and some say there needs to be a gap and others don’t. I suspect it would be far enough from the actual hob rings/pans but range cookers have a sort of vent at the back from the ovens and I’m wondering if that will be ok too? It is possible to get the same design on tiles so I’m wondering if that would be safer.

Otherwise I guess we could have the quartz upstand going across the back of the cooker then have the splash back above that but I’m not sure if that would all start to look a bit fussy? Andy maybe difficult to clean?

tiles should work fine, and are a lot cheaper than upstands - we've got them all round above our worktops, saved several hundred quid.

Ours has a granite upstand behind the range cooker with the glass on top. It looks fine and not fussy. Will try to upload a photo later.
