Grey grout.

I'm about to re tile my kitchen and would like get grey grout. I'm a bit worried about how it will age, especially behind the oven with oil and food splashing on it. Does it stain and go dark in these areas. Or does it conceal stains well? Would I be better sticking to white? Wheat is other people's experience on this?

Mine is fine even though many years old but the tiles are dark - perhaps light tiles might make stains more obvious.

*What are others experiences

I have white tiles in my kitchen with grey grout. Ive only had it for a year so far but it seems absolutely fine at the moment. No problems and still happy with my choice!

So perhaps dark tiles too. I'm trying to do a budget mini makeover.

That's good to hear. I just had images of oil somehow soaking in to the grout and darkening it permanently. This obviously isn't a issue.

We’ve got cream metro tiles with grey grout, it’s fine.

I've had white tiles with grey grout in two bathrooms running, it's brilliant, limescale stains don't show at all. I'm sure it would be the same in a kitchen

You could use a grey grout pen 🤷‍♀️

My kitchen tiles are white with black grout. Love it!!

I have one room with light grey ceramic tiles and one with white/ grey marble tiles both grouped with light grey grout and a room with slate times grouted with dark drey. All have kept very well. I always choose Mapei grout and the silicone sealant they make as they produce it in identical colours to their grout

Kitchens always wears tiling differently than bathrooms. It shouldn't cause problems if the grouting is done properly. If you are planning on doing the job yourself, adding a bit of PVC glue to your grout will help it last longer and be a bit more stain resistant. If you are still worried about it, you can always apply a grout sealer over the top too.

I have white metro tiles and grey grout in my kitchen. We use the hob daily and the grout looks as good as new. We have had it for 5+ years.

We used mapei grout and have used this elsewhere. The kitchen one is a dark grey, the bathroom one a lighter grey and the bathroom one looks a little mottled but nothing that would make you regret buying it.

We tiled it ourselves, both the bathroom and kitchen, we are very good at DIY. Don't add anything to the grout, unless it tells you to on the bag.

Having done plumbing and heating for over 20 years, I would always recommend putting some pvc glue into your grout. It helps improve the water resistance of the grout and gives it a slightly longer lifespan

Thanks everyone. Seems the grey will be fine. Very useful advice XX
