New shower

Hi, we are in process of buying a house which needs renovation, it’s not had anything done to it for 30 plus years. We will be initially downsizing to then upsize with an extension/ loft conversion.

It has a very old bathroom with a hand shower over the bath, but this end of the bath is tucked under the eaves and so if it was attached to the wall, it would be at waist height and the person showering would either be in a limbo position or sitting.

There are between 3 and 4 (when eldest is home in the holidays from uni) of us, this will be the only bathroom until we extend, but have got separate toilets.

So we are going to put in a corner shower as a temporary measure until we do a double height extension (Approximately a year after we move in). Our choice is to put in an electric shower or change the hot water tank (it’s tiny) and then put in a thermostat mixer and probably some kind of pump. It’s fairly easy to run both water and electrics, as the bathroom is over the garage where both the boiler and fuse boards are.

Any advice or opinions welcome, or if there is anything we should check when we have the house surveyed.

Also if anyone has any costs they could share for the 2 options of just the shower part that would be great.

Hubby prefers electric option, but I prefer hot water tank option. We have a fab bathroom fitter.
