Selling old kitchen

Hello, just wondering if anyone has any experience of selling their used kitchen and if so what site did you use?

We have a nolte kitchen which is in very good condition that we are looking to get rid of as it was here when we bought the house and the wrong layout for us as we are extending. It has high quality appliances inclding a large range cooker, american fridge freezer, dishwasher, neff oven and warming drawer and franke sink and tap which we are also looking to sell. Did you sell everything together or appliances seperately?

I am also unsure when I should advertise it as we want use out of it as long as possible until the knock through into the extension. Do people who buy used kitchens generally want to see them in situ and remove them themselves or should we let our builders remove it before selling?

I sold the old kitchen appliances from our house on eBay - collection only for cash on collection. I just cleaned everything up and made sure the photos were honest and showed any defects. We got good money for an old Belfast sink via eBay too. We didn't try to sell the units - they went in the skip as they were a mishmash of things which had been painted various colours over the years, but you could try eBay of local Facebook selling sites.

With eBay everything was sold separately in 10 day auctions ending on Sunday afternoons at starting at 99p.

List it all separately on eBay, 99p start no reserve. I even sold the old units. Even if some go for 99p, it's something you don't have to take to the dump / use up space in £300 a go skips!

I got good money btw - paid for the tiling of our new kitchen with it. The cooker was just over a year old and we had the receipt to prove it. We only sold that because it was a single oven with no separate grill.

To echo always - if someone else takes a bulky item away for 99p, at least you haven't had to take it to the tip or pay for a skip.

I listed an old kitchen on Gumtree and was pleasantly surprised at the response, there were 6 or 7 people who seemed genuinely interested but the first one kept his word and removed it so I contacted the other people once it had gone.

Previous tenants in this house didn't know how to clean and I didn't have the time or inclination to clean old kitchen cabinets that were being removed, so decided to advertise them as 'free, but you must remove the cupboards, take everything with you and leave the kitchen neat and tidy' or words to that effect.

The company hired to install the new kitchen had quoted quite a substantial amount to remove and dispose of the old kitchen, so by giving it away free I was laughing all the way to the bank.

The man who took the cupboards didn't want the appliances, so another ad on Gumtree with a price of what it would have cost to dump these items, saw them depart for their new home within a few hours.

Take lots of photos before dismantling anything and make sure there is a tape measure visible in the photos. My other advice is not to 'hold' items for anyone as mostly those people don't arrive, although if they have to drive a long distance give them enough time to get there and make sure you tell them this, so if they are genuinely delayed in traffic they can let you know.

Good luck and hope you enjoy the renovation.

We are selling our kitchen as the new one will be in a different room. We've done it through word of mouth. The most important thing is the timing. You don't want to be without a kitchen for too long. We are getting the gas supply cut to the hob in advance as that needs to be done properly. It's a high end kitchen but 9 years old. We are also keeping the washing machine, dishwasher and hot tap. The new owner will get the front doors (the two appliances are integrated) so can buy their own appliances to go behind them.

Like others, we are saving by not having the builders remove the old kitchen and nice to think it's recycled rather than skipped.
