Hi, I’m looking for a kind of blue/green/grey in a mid shade for a staircase which feels closed in. I love all these dark colours at the moment, but I think they’d be too deep for a big wall on a narrow staircase. Has anyone used one similar that they love the colour of? It doesn’t have to blend with anything, so I’m open to other ideas! Photos would be good if you have a great staircase Smile.

I can’t get out to look as I had an operation on Friday, so all ideas gratefully received, then I can dispatch DH.

Have a look at Farrow and Ball Pigeon. It's a beautiful blueish greeny grey that changes depending on the light. I have it in my front room paired with FB Cornforth White.

PS if you like Pigeon but think it's a couple of shades too dark then maybe look at Cromarty or Dimpse which are lovely soft blue greys that are much lighter than Pigeon

We have mint macaroon and polished pebble on our hallway walls, the back wall is our feature wall and the rest is painted with the polished pebble x

Thank you- I’m looking at F & B now.

That’s a nice colour @iusedtohavechickens- it’s not quite as sludgy as the vision I have, but I like it!

Love pigeon @MissLemon18- and there’s a F&B stockist about a mile away that DH can nip out to. I’m feeling helpless not being able to walk or drive!

@shockers I love how it changes in the light. If you live in a period house, it's definitely worth buying Farrow & Ball rather than getting it colour matched because the paint is clay based and breathable, rather than plastic based which isn't good for a period house. The paint costs more initially but you'll head off any issues in the long run.

Earthborn paint is also worth a look of it's a period house. There's a website called Mike Wye that stocks everything for decorating and maintaining period houses.

I’m not in a period house anymore @MissLemon18, but when we were in a Victorian house, I used F&B and loved the way it played with the light. We’ve used Little Green in the sitting room here, thinking it was similar, but it looks a little flat. I’m hoping that the stairway will come to life with a good paint!

OP have a look at Mylands paint very good quality & great coverage they don’t have as much choice as FB or LG the colours are very subtle with good depth, Craig&Rose paint is also worth looking at as well.

We’ve gone for F&B light grey, which is nothing like blue/green/grey, and is more of a pale mushroom in our stairway.

If it looks ok when it’s finished, I’ll post a photo Grin.
