People with wooden windows - who do you get to maintain them?

My windows I think will need sanding and re-glossing (or whatever you call it this year). Last time I ex h did the back ones before leaving and I got a handyman to do the front, though he then did a bit of a bodge job with a fence so I don't want him back and don't have details.

I'm struggling to find anyone - what do I search under? Seems quite a specific thing and I feel many won't do it as there are easier jobs they can charge more for?

I have three friends who are painters and decorators and they all do exterior work including windows. They are starting to fill their diaries now for the outdoor months.
Look for local decorators, most of them will do this.

And don't go for cheap. The previous owners of our house bodged this job and we ended up forking £1000s to replace windows that had rotted because of shoddy upkeep on the frames.

As above, I got a painter to do it. His firm is more expensive but he used a really good quality paint and it has lasted for years, in spite of the windows being in a position very exposed to wind and rain.

To look after timber frames, remove any plastic based paint with a heat gun (infra red gun best as it's less likely to crack the glass) then paint with linseed oil paint such as Brouns.

Plastic based paints trap moisture in and will rot frames quite quickly. Linseed oil paint is hard wearing and low maintenance too.
