Tips for choosing bathroom tiles for easiest care?

Just that really - I like the look of small tiles like these ones but I'm wondering if I'm letting myself in for more cleaning than if I chose something bigger. Bathroom is very plain, quite small (2.2m x 1.6m) just bath & sink, with wooden panelled walls painted in robins egg blue.

Any tips gratefully received for things that have worked well for you. I work full time, have a teenager, (& try to stick to eco cleaning products) so would prefer to spend as little time as possible cleaning grout!

Don't choose a metro tile with a bevelled edge. Looks fantastic but you can't squeegy the water off easily and the top bevel collects the dust.

Anthracite coloured grout exists and is fab, it still needs sealing properly mind. It’d look great with the tiles in your link, better than the white does IMHO. They are utterly gorgeous tiles!

Yy I agree about the bevelling. Avoid it.

Personally I go for large tiles and coloured grout to reduce cleaning. I think a small room may not be able to take the largest tiles but I'd go for the largest you can..

Yes, I think dark grout is definitely the way to go Owlbasket. Good tip about the bevelled edges Lego. I definitely need to go for practicality over style sadly given my lifestyle

Yes to smooth tiles. We have the Attringham ones in your link and they're completely flat and look much pricier than they are.

Also, don't use white grouting. We have mid-grey and it looks good.

Oh. Maybe the link isn’t working properly. The lovely tiles I’m seeing aren’t smallConfused I get this

Not sure what happened there, I was trying to link to the Metro ones (now rejected because of bevel!) but I think it just gave the main bathroom link. The Attingham look like they could be a veyr good option horse

I love the fern colour on the Attingham but I reckon it might be a bit much in my little bathroom!

We've got the seagrass ones which are lovely. Friends have the seagrass geometric style which also looks nice in a small shower room.

I’ve got flat matt metro tiles. Works better with hard water marks.

ImTheCaddy · 08/02/2020 23:37

I've just had mine started in large Matt white tiles and mud grey grout.

I'm happy so far. Still a way to go though!

Don't go with Topps Tiles though- they are hugely overpriced.

Do you have any recommendations for good places @BitOfFun?

We've just refitted our shower room. We just went for a wetwall matt grey linen effect behind the shower and left the rest of the room with just wipeable bathroom paint. I got lovely bright floor tiles which lift the room.

I'm really pleased with the result and it's been easy to clean, especially inside the shower. I looked at lots of wetwall and found the shiny ones could look a bit tacky. Ours is matt and slightly rough-textured.

BitOfFun · 09/02/2020 20:43

I went with B&Q- around a third of the price.
