I feel quite underwhelmed with my new kitchen - I played it quite safe and went for light island and units but now I bitterly regret not getting something with colour and a different style - I did months of Planning to try and achieve a high end look but to me it looks cheap - I've been looking at it today and just think I should have gone for the other one we looked at, I am also looking at replacement door company's which is insane!!!

My kitchen is not paintable.

I keep comparing it to kitchens on Pinterest and Instagram and feel so regretful

Anyone been in the same boat??

I wanted to love my new kitchen 😩

This thread stresses me out! I am currently picking a kitchen.

thinking sage green cupboards with white worktops and a wooden floor. But I keep looking at bright blue kitchens then worrying I will get sick of it!

sorry - doesn’t help you with your regrets!

We moved last year and I bought the house because of the kitchen. It’s about ten years old and probably slightly dated, but 100% suits the house, the space, and us. I just love it.

It’s a light colour with all integrated appliances, and a light coloured island with island and breakfast bar.

Loads of houses i looked at had very modern kitchens but I just think they’re going to date so badly. Tuxedo style in navy, dark blues, and greens, massive islands, double-height cupboards, farmhouse ceramic sinks, tarnished mirror splash backs etc.

Not any good to you, I know OP, but live with it for a while and you might come to love the neutrality of it.

ZOMBIE THREAD FROM 2020!!

DD pointed out that we hadn’t actually gained any more cupboard space, and she was right.

Make sure you fully make the right decision, go to show homes and see all the different colours. I picked light grey cabinets, I should of gone for anthracite which is a darker colour and a good contrast to the white. I recently went to b&q and saw the darker colour and it made me so stressed, I just wish went with the darker colour. Just make sure you know what you want, don’t be like me, I was so indecisive, designing a kitchen should be something exiting. Just don’t be stressed like I was. Enjoy it.

Stop comparing with the images on pinterest for starters. My kitchen is not new but has white high gloss units and black unit tops. Some would say boring, but I say it will not date. Being plain means I can play about with floor coverings and blinds etc

Seeing as this thread is over 2 years old it would be interesting to see if the OP learned to love her kitchen. I have just gone out of my comfort zone and chosen pink and cream units. Hope I don't get that feeling of regret.

Helllo 👋

i actually like it now and don't hate .. still regret not being a little bolder with colours, however added some accessories and much happier now!!

working from home in the kitchen, think it was the first lockdown when I was feeling depressed / stressed made me obsess over the kitchen 😂
