Where to live in Manchester with a baby

I am hoping for some suggestions on areas in Manchester that would be good for a couple having their first baby.
We both work in the city centre full time so need a shortish commute so we can get home in time for nursery closing.
Ideally we want to spend max 400k and be close to a nursery, good primary school and tram/train station. Any ideas?

Heaton Moor / Heaton Mersey are both lovely and have great schools.

I live East Didsbury, spitting distance from Fletcher Moss park and we bought our semi with off road parking last year for under 400k. I love living here, no regrets.

Timperley is good. Its on the tram line, lots of good nurserys and schools, and 15 mins from Altrincham which has a train station also

Another vote for Sale. Great schools, tram into town, lovely place to live and prices not as bad as Didsbury. My children grew up here and it has been great.

Have you considered Altrincham? It's on the tram line :)

Oh - someone has already suggested Altrincham, sorry @swizzells2003 - I didn't read the full thread.
