Hi everyone
This is my first post .
we have a north facing living room here goes ,
this room drives me mad ,there is no sun in this room due to me making my hubby invest in a orangery ,which by the way he was totally against .
We have to put main lights on all day long rain or shine .
This is really getting me down and im starting to argue with my hubby .He doesn't see a problem with the lack of light issue,
THB we have lived in this bungalow for 10 years and i have hated it from day 1 but hubby loves it .
street full of bungalows and all retired people ,no noise ,what more can you ask for .
We were going to sale it but couldn't find anything we liked in price range and i refuse to increase the mortgage .
hubby said we just keep wasting money on this house ,
help !!! . I feel like i have dark cloud sitting on my shoulders ,

That used to be our lounge.
We replaced the lighting with LED down lights on a dimmer (9 of them - typical 30's back reception). Then invested in lots of different task lighting for the evenings in there.
A few years later we took down the wall between the original rear reception and the extension which gave us another chunk of light.
A few years after that we then knocked a wide opening through to the room the other way to get sunlight in from the side.
It's a nice space now.....

The orngery seems dim , the wall blocks the light from the east so no morning liight. Is the roof overshadowed by the bungalow roof?
I would fill the orangery with greenery , ferns, Ivy, climbing plants. Put in some rattan furniture so it is nice to look at - could add a few night spotlights , maybe a comfy chair for you. Pull lounge curtains right back so it feels an extension of the lounge. Continue the greenery theme into the lounge , there are some shade loving plants.
Simplify the lounge, do away with coffee table as it blocks route to orangery, side tables instead simplify fireplace, too many colours make it look bitty. Get an electrician to advise on nicest lighting. I have table lamps on timers so the room is warm to walk into.

Hi HelgaHere1
Both rooms have spots in ceiling now

HelgaHere1 · 01/02/2020 11:13

Yes, but in the evening I'd prefer a couple of table lamps , ceiling spots can be harsh. Perhaps there are different bulbs or tinted bulbs which would make it cosier , an electrician would prob know.

Seriously, sun pipes would help. Not a skylight.

I think paint colours need to have a sunny tone to them -even if white. Eg Jasmine white.

Thank you everyone.
We have decided to declutter and sell house.
Hubby said not worth prolonging it anymore.

To find a double bathroom basin, you can either go online or visit a bath or home store. It is possible to buy a matching sink or two identical sinks. However, it would be easier to use a double-sized bathroom sink. First, you will need to choose a color scheme. basic design considerations such as whether the bathroom should remain the same or if you want to change it to a modern or classic theme. One Should look for the best flushing toilets as they can be the best corner toilet.
