Fixed shower head and limescale

We’re about to install a new shower. It will be over a bath. I’d like a fixed shower head/waterfall-shower type thing, concealed fittings and a separate handheld shower or similar - for when I don’t want to wet my hair etc.

The problem is we live in a hard water area. And I’m worried about limescale build-up and how to clean the limescale from the shower head etc, when it’s fixed in place. How do others manage this?

Is this a crazy idea considering our hard water?

You just need to soak it in limescale remover. It will drip but you can always apply more.

We can just unscrew it and replace - I suspect you'll be able to do something similar?

I used to fill a plastic bag with vinegar, fix it to the shower head with an elastic band and left it overnight. Seemed to work okay.

Limescale remover in a thickish bag, tie round shower head and tie in place, leave for however long, take off and rinse.

You can just unscrew them from the arm/ceiling/wall and then clean or replace them easily at ground level.

Soak paper towels in vinegar, wrap round head, keep on with clingfilm.

We have the same an insanely hard water. They will unscrew so I do that but the thick sandwich bag full of viakal liquid secured with a rubber band works it not.

One thing I will say - don’t get dark tiles, definitely not black mosaic type tiles like the previous owner put in here. Cannot get the limescale off!
