Advice for selling house online

We’ve had a couple of local agents quote but even at 1% plus VAT commission, it’s a chunk spent so wondered if anyone has ever sold a house using online agents? Is there a vetting system so you don’t just get randoms coming round?! I’d have to do the viewings myself I guess and I’ve got a little baby so just thinking about safety etc. Do they reach the same market as a high street agent? Can the process from offer be straightforward dealing with them directly? We’ll use a conveyancing solicitor. Any other tips welcome, thank you

Do a search on here for Purple Bricks and have a look online at the online EAs which have gone out of business. That should tell you all you need to know.

The biggest issue with online EAs is that many of them seem to be franchises so it's the luck of the draw whether the 'local' agent actually has local knowledge. Some, like Purple Bricks, you pay upfront so they've had their fee before they've done anything so where's the incentive to sell your house? Also they tend to have call centres dealing with sales progression where you are entirely reliant on what information is in their database and the person or people dealing with your sale have never been to your house.

You pay up front. There is no incentive to sell.

I would never even look at a property with an online agent. They dont progress sales and are a nightmare to deal with.

We skipped past all of the online eas after tired to visit a coupe of houses. Would stick with a local estate agent.
