Greenbank in Northwich! Any help?

Hi there

We're currently looking at houses in Northwich and just wondered if anybody can tell us about Greenbank? We don't know anybody in the area to ask for pointers so it would be great if anyone could share some information with us. We're also looking at Hartford but lots of posts about there on here already.

Any help would be so appreciated! Thanks in advance :)

Greenbank is a bit rougher than other suburbs of Northwich. Slow regeneration is reaching it from Northwich though. Hartford is much nicer. More expensive too though!

It's a large estate with a community hub and some shops. It isn't as nice as some areas, such as Hartford next door..but Hartford is so expensive (overpriced?) The advantages of Greenbank is it's super affordable and so so close to decent high schools and the Trainline. However, I would be picking my street very carefully....as with anywhere, depends on your neighbours. It's perceived as a not so nice area (compared to its direct neighbour Hartford). However, the Northwich regeneration is well on its way.

Other local areas that are very reasonably priced similar to Greenbank would be Leftwich (great high school but no train but near the bypass and easily walkable to town), Rudheath (although people don't rate the high school) or possibly going out to the villages such as Barton or Weaverham.

I have lived in other villages on the outskirts of Northwich. Some villages are quite rural and the bus services aren't always the best. However a lot of the villages have great communities....and it depends what your requirements are.

Thank you for your replies, they've been really helpful Smile

With regards to the houses on the A559 (Chester Road) between The Iron Bridge & Hartford? Is this road generally okay as we've seen quite a few pop up over the last few months?

Thanks again everyone, it's such a big decision and when you're new to an area it's got that added stress to it!

Chester Road itself is quite busy with traffic....although I only use this road on a weekend and occasional evening. If you were buying on Chester Road you would need to check the parking situation.

The Ironbridge is in Castle area. This is busy especially with traffic but you have some good take aways there and a Tesco Express. Again, you need to watch your streets in Castle...but equally there are some really nice pockets.

The roads off Heysham/Highbank are quite quiet and nice. You aren't far from Moss Farm and that's also very pleasant as well. (Also known as Firdale)

Thank you, that's really helpful. I really appreciate you taking the time to provide that info!

The Victorian / Edwardian houses on Chester Road, Beach Road and School Lane are what we're really interested in at the moment. We had a little drive around there over the weekend and they really are just so lovely, so we'll just keep an eye out for houses hopefully cropping up over the next few months.

Smile
