Help - Offer accepted and I don't know if I love the house....

Me and my partner have been looking for a house in a particular area for over 12 months, with very little luck. We have offered on several properties, but because there is high demand and a shortfall of properties - people are often paying 20-30K more than something is on the market for and we just can't complete.

Anyway, we went to see a property last week, on the market shy of 170K, and in order to be in with a chance of having our offer accepted, we offered 178K - which was accepted (yay!).

However, now I am having second thoughts. I think we offered to much, and I am not sure I love it, and feel there is lots of work to be done. I showed a family member who's opinion I value a lot and he ripped it apart.

I just don't know what to do - there are definitely pros, and it is an upcoming area (people are climbing over themselves to live in this area) - but I don't know if I loved it when I first saw it - I think the fact that it is an end-terrace is putting me off.

I guess I am looking for advice? For context, me and my partner are first time buyers and currently rent (which is something I want to get out of ASAP).

Here is the property....www.julianwadden.co.uk/property-details/STP190501/greater-manchester/sk3/torkington-street?page=1&instruction_type=Sale&address_keyword=Edgeley&minprice=&maxprice=&property_type=&showstc=1&showsold=0

Looks like a good buy - we used to live nearby. Great transport links and close to amenities. The house itself is a little bland - but you can decorate and it'll make a huge difference. The kitchen and bathroom are nicely done. The yard isn't overlooked by the house at the back - you can soon make it more inviting. I suggest you visit at different times on different days and see what is going on in the area if you have concerns about it being the end terrace.

Looks fab, love the basement, how useful is that? Beautiful church and a decent pub not too far!!!

I don;t think the yard is grim. The paving and brick walls are both pretty and in good nick. Much better than some I"ve seen with leaning fences and conrete slab paving. Once there are some pretty shrubs in pots and a few climbers along the walls and some lighting it will look gorgeous.

I looked at a few other houses in the area and it doesn't seem overpriced. The cheaper ones needed gutting or had no cellar.

I'd suggest going on Pinterest and start deciding how you can furnish/decorate each room to make it more yours. There are lots of ideas for budget projects. I think it's a great first house.

There really doesn’t look like loads of work to do. It seems perfectly nice. You may be overpaying though, looking at nearby sold prices. But in a fast moving market maybe the prices have moved on by that much?

I think it's lovely! One thing that comes to mind is that they haven't used the nooks to their full potential (see that Malm drawer, for example). We have a house with lots of those and you can make it look really really nice by getting furniture that fits the space. Doesn't have to be a fully fitted wardrobe, you can get IKEA furniture and make it look like it's fitted. And you can do a mediterranian vibe thing in the garden without much effort. Anyway, I'd buy it in a heartbeat, except I have no reason to move to Stockport.

I like it. Not sure why it needs work. It's lovely.

Looks all up together as far as I can see.
