We had our whole house renovated just under a year ago. We had a loft extension - and as part of this, a new area of flat roofing with a skylight over the stairs. There have been various issues and we are no longer in contact with the original builders.
The roof is leaking at the corner of the raised skylight. All the roofers we’ve had to come and look at it have said that the new roof (a polymer? I think) has been shoddily applied, is peeling in lots of different places, and will cause lots of problems. They suggest that polymer isn’t a good material to use. They want to felt the whole of the flat area of roof.
My internet research suggests that polymer is ok in itself if properly applied - I would rather spend less on having problem areas patched. I don’t like the look of felting (tho admittedly you wouldn’t really see it!). I feel like the roofers are trying to up sell us to the thing that they do. Architect for original project says they saw no problems with original roof install (but I doubt they looked closely at roof).
Any suggestions for what we should do?
