I did read an old thread which said DIY Kitchens were a reasonable company, but has anyone actually installed a kitchen from them. Would like opinions on what quality of units are like. thank you

I have a new kitchen from them last year and the quality is fantastic, having previously had high end, great customer service too, they have a showroom in Pontefract

we are going with DIY about to order it if you can go to the showroom, it gives you a better idea of what the units look like in real terms only problem we had was picking which units to go for they are all fab I was originally going to go for matt finish but after seeing it we went for gloss

TobyHouseMan · 20/01/2020 15:47

Yes, installed a large one. No issues really, did what they said and kitchen is good quality.

We spent ages looking at kitchens, lots of research. We picked DIY for the following reasons:

  1. Cheaper than the rest.
  2. No sales gimmicks, but look for their 10% off offers. Magnet quoted us 28k and we got them down to 8! Still didn't like them.
  3. All kitchens are basically the same. It's a carcass with a nice looking door. Most kitchen companies buy in their doors from the same small number of trade suppliers.

We went to the showroom yesterday and it was great. Would highly recommend going to have a look around.

Khione · 20/01/2020 16:02

I've got one from there and love it.

I took my sister to the showroom as 'day out' whilst she was visiting me. She had a bespoke kitchen costing £££££, she absolutely loved them, so much that she recommended to a friend in Gloucester who was talking about a very expensive kitchen. The friend made a 600 mile round trip to the showroom and ended up buying a DIY Kitchen.

I had one problem with a wall unit that had been knocked and slightly damaged so I sent photos. It was replaced within the week without question and I got to keep the first one too.

WOW, thank you one and all for your comments. We have been to WRENS, but I dont like their sales push.

We went to wrens and walked out. They were awful. Went to DIy and bought two kitchens as have a large utility as well. Builder said amazing quality and easy to fit and now recommends or uses them himself.

Neighbour followed suit and equally delighted. I would use again

foxy86 · 20/01/2020 18:44

I got my last kitchen from there for the old house. The units were ready built up. I then found out that a family member works there and I could have got a discount for it! But it wasn’t that expensive compared to other kitchen places.

We are getting our new kitchen from there for our new house. I really like the showroom too as you get free drinks and cakes if you get thirsty or hungry while looking. Apparently they used to do bacon sandwiches but people took advantage of it so they stopped.

Elenada1 · 20/01/2020 18:46

Hi MarieG10. That is exactly how we have found Wrens. So in your face. I know we have a large kitchen, but they have quoted us so far (as a ball park figure), £14,500 and that doesnt include taps or flooring...... What. So far I am impressed with these comments and so glad I asked you ladies.

My kitchen is from DIY Kitchens and we love it. The showroom is well worth the trip out. No sales pitch, just really helpful and they have all of the carcasses set up so you can see inside too.

Quality and looks are great, I'd definitely use them again.

LBOCS2 · 20/01/2020 19:29

We had a DIY Kitchens kitchen installed just before Christmas. Very impressed and 2/3rds of the price of the next cheapest quote we had.

@Elenada1 'Er-hmm', Ladies AND Gentlemen ;)

I’m thinking about the Luca Matt White (modern handleless one) for renovating a holiday let on a tight budget. Does anyone remember that from the showroom? I’m not well enough to get to the showroom myself and it needs to be something most people would like, rather than my personal taste.

Also do you have suggestions for flooring which would go and in similar balance of quality vs price?

DIY Kitchen company
isseywith4vampirecats · 23/01/2020 12:36

@ImposterJen all of their units are good looking the luca is the range we are going for but in light blue gloss and for a holiday let I would go for a medium quality sheet vinyl, waterproof and easy to clean and if it does get damaged not hundreds of pounds to replace

MTJTD · 24/01/2020 16:55

As a kitchen designer, I can honestly say that they're very difficult to beat on prices. They're CHEAP.

I've heard bad reports of their deliveries (expensive and prone to problems), but the likes of the Luca (painted) door comes in cheaper than most companies can supply vinyl.

These days I mainly hope that people haven't heard of them Grin.

NotMeNoNo · 24/01/2020 17:03

The Luca is a standard painted door and the paint finish is a nice soft matt. They are very robust and well made units I'd think they would be ideal for a holiday let. A flat door with handles might have fewer vulnerable corners is the only thing.

I've just designed and ordered a large DIY kitchen for my sister which was recently delivered and installed, no problems, delivery down a tiny lane as well. I find them very straightforward and clear to deal with.

Holiday let: heavy duty vinyl floor the cleaner can easily mop, nice wood pattern not too expensive to replace if someone damages it.

NotMeNoNo · 24/01/2020 17:04

You aren't going for a wooden worktop are you BTW - wood effect?

Secretsout · 24/01/2020 21:05

I had a kitchen from them 15 months ago. I love it. Had previously had a very expensive high end kitchen and I can honestly say I don't feel I've made much of a compromise. The quality is excellent. I didn't go to the showroom - they sent me some door samples. Delivery was very good - I had the most expensive option.

I would definitely recommend

ImposterJen · 25/01/2020 12:10

Think DIY Kitchens is what we’ll go for then. Currently looking at good quality vinyl for floors.

Enjoyacuppa · 25/01/2020 15:21

Yeah the Luca is fine and it’s what I’m going to get.

I’ve visited the showroom and I like the feel of the products - feel sturdy. I don’t like most of the worktops
