Toilet - that doesnt have a tight swan neck

I'm not quite sure how to describe this but we have a toilet that needs replacing thanks to its lovely peachy colour.
It also blocks anytime more than 2 bits of toilet paper go down.

The plumber has suggested we don't but from B&Q as lots of people have had issues due to the sharp S bend in the swan neck.
Anyone able to recommend a brand of toilet with a shallow s bend?

we have not had any serious problems with the Roca Laura - exists as either close-coupled or wall-hung. yes it still needs a second attempt against really ... um ... large tasks, but that's rare.

Buy a Twyford

Or other long-established UK company

Unbranded imports may not be as good.

When you say swan-neck, do you mean the soil pipe exits downwards, through the floor?

AmIAWeed · 20/01/2020 13:08

sorry - I have just seen your reply @PigletJohn Being the non techy person that I am...the plumber said the S bit, so where the waste goes out, down, up and out!
That's the bit that is continually blocking

So does it go horizontally to the wall, or vertically through the floor?

AmIAWeed · 20/01/2020 13:36

through the floor

Fine.

You can still buy pans that have a bottom-outlet pipe meaning you don't need adaptors and elbows (which may well be the reason for your blockages).
There are not many.

Please accurately measure the distance from the wall to the centre of the pipe that comes up through the floor. It might be around 250mm to 300mm.

Is the floor wooden, with a void underneath, or concrete?

AmIAWeed · 20/01/2020 14:19

wall to the centre of the pipe is only 10cm
I've measured from the top and side (tape measure is folded up on the side measure by 1.5 cm for skirting board depth.

The floor is just Kardean, they put down their layer of scree to level but below that is concrete

well that's a pity

I scoured the market for BO pans a while ago, and the two good ones I found both needed bigger spacing than that.

You could phone or email Armitage Shanks, they have a very big range including many designs intended for retrofitting old buildings such as hotels and galleries. Say you want a close-coupled bottom-outlet pan, with wall to soil pipe centre about 100mm. They are not cheap.

Otherwise, you could use a Horizontal Outlet Twyfords E100 Premium Round, with their S-trap connector. You can see it illustrated as an option in the technical drawing which you can download from
www.twyfordbathrooms.com/products/toilets-bidets-urinals/close-coupled-toilets/e100-round-close-coupled-premium-toilet-pan-ho-flushwise/8960/
With the connector it spaces 80mm from the wall (bottom left pic). (you can put a batten behind the cistern to fill the extra 20mm gap), though the rubbery connection will allow a little movement.

The bottom-outlet pan is not the one you want, because it spaces 230mm from the wall (shown in the same pic, top right) so will not fit your bathroom unless you knock the wall down.

The E100 is a very good range. You may find a good price at QS supplies, but double check the parts you order. Or you could ask your plumber to measure up (show him/her this note and print off the tech drawing) and confirm suitability and order from his trade supplier.

The E100 cistern can be adjusted for increased flush, and the dual-button can be unscrewed with your fingers when you want to take the lid off

The Premium Round has a sort of smooth skirt which makes it easier to clean. There is a soft close, easy-off seat available at extra cost. Unlike Square pans you should easily find a replacement seat in future.
