Online Estate Agents

We have decided to sell our property and upgrade to a larger property. My plan is to get three valuations (leading estate agents and two local) to determine the asking price and then advertise my property via an online estate agency. I was just wondering if anyone has any recommendations or feedback on online estate agencies? We are considering using doorsteps.co.uk.

We are both young professionals who work within Senior Sales positions therefore we are confident doing our own viewings and negotiation.
Estimated property value is £240k. It’s a new build apartment in a highly desirable location. Still under NHBC warranty. EPC certificate is currently still valid. We can take our own professional photos (thanks to the new iPhone 11) and have heard you can get a floor plan done for £5 via Fiverr.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated Smile

A cheap 'agent' may well not turn out to be the best value to someone selling.

A sale at £240k where a Rightmove ad has cost you £99, may not seem quite as enticing if a traditional agent can get £250k, and charge you £3000.

However, you may as well give it a whirl and see how you get on.

Finding a buyer can sometimes prove to be the easy bit, the process from offer acceptance to exchange is where the real work goes on.

I don't think many professional photographers use an iphone!

This. Plus, check the small print- many online firms force you to use their own conveyancers which could be costly. The experience people have had with online estate agents on MN has been awful. I rang up purple bricks recently as am selling a property and was told they'd arrange multiple viewings at a time as the rep for my area "didnt live very near" so would inly be travelling in the vicinity perhaps once a month or so. I told them to bugger off. I want people to view the property when they want to, not lump them all together because my agent doesnt live nearby. Thats the danger with online- you get one agent for a huge area who isn't around much. Cheaper does not always equal= better.

It really can be difficult to work out if some posts are a wind-up.
