why would you place a fitted wardrobe over a window?

Buying a house. One of the bedrooms (with two windows) has a fitted window built over one of the windows, done some years ago - not by the current occupants, so they can't shed any light on the matter. It isn't even a nice wardrobe & there are other places in the room a fitted wardrobe could have gone. So why would you do it & what will we find when we pull it out...?!

Maybe, when they had it built, the previous owners had more furniture in there & had less choice.
I guess they decided one window was enough. Bit odd but.....

My BIL's house has this. There's a window in the door of the wardrobe which lets light though to the room.

I find it odd as the light gets through to the clothes and would end up fading them.

Any chance the people who built it needed a light cupboard? Eg could they have used it for sewing in / painting? Light keeps moths away?!

I agree, it's weird
