Sliding mechanism's for dishwashers

We have a hotpoint dishwasher installed in our benchmarx kitchen.

The door cannot fully open and it needs a mechanism but the appliance company says they don't provide one (and they only come with expensive brands- why he didn't say so at purchase time i don't know!?)

Benchmarx say they don't do on.

I ordered what I thought was the right thing from ikea- fitter opened it and says it's not.

Now we are struggling to find what we need.

please help? Surely no one just accepts that their dishwasher doesn't fully open?! It's driving me bloody insane and we can't fit the kickboard till we have something (the door currently stops when it hits the actual dishwasher- the door is standard size- so we've no chance with a kickboard on!)

Helppppop

Sounds like you may just have the wrong kind of dishwasher for the door style you have chosen. If you bought the dishwasher with the door/cabinets then your best course of action might be to go back to the retailer and ask them to put it right. Otherwise I’m not sure what you can do beyond trying to get a dishwasher that does fit properly

Oh really ☹ i bought the appliances separately. I'm so shocked that integrated dishwashers would not fit a standard slab door!?

In what way can the door not open? Is the panel attached to the appliance door, is the plinth obstructing it (in which case can the feet adjust upwards to clear it or it could be trimmed to give more clearance). Maybe post a pic?

Some need a notch cutting in the plinth so the door opens fully flat you can see the notch when it done

X2Kevintheteenagers · 10/01/2020 16:30

Can't see the notch also the dishwasher need fitting tight up to the underside of the worktop .

I notice on my in laws their door slides upwards as you pull down so that it doesn't hit the kickboad.

Currently we have no kickboard, it's actually hitting on the actual dishwasher.

We have very thin work tops (compact laminate)

I'll try and take a video/picture. I'm aware that you usually have to take a cut out of the kickboard but this is actually hitting the dishwasher itself.

Has the door panel been mounted correctly? If previous one was ok it may be too low.

Isohungy · 10/01/2020 18:00

New kitchen. Previous dw was always freestanding so this is totally new to me!

Did the door open fully before the panel was fitted? Is the panel flush with door at bottom or does it overlap.

Have a look in the installation manual it should give the maximum door size . I can't see it being that the doors too big . I think all the hotpoints just slot into the top on the plastic dowels key holes at the top then fixed directly to the inner door at the bottom once adjustment been made . the dishwasher needs to level with the bottom of the worktop .you could drop the dishwasher slightly and then you can lift the door up slightly past the top of dishwasher inner door this will in effect shorten the door length and reduce the amount it swings into the machine at the bottom . I don't think it needs any special kit just lots of adjust to get it right they have very little clearance and have to be perfectly plumb and level both ways and front to back as well . they take a lot of fiddling about to get right .

Have tried to show how it hits under neath and how tight it already is to the worktop (sorry about the partially loaded dishwasher!) Does this help at all?

I know this is old but for anyone else who has this type of issue you need to drop the DW down an inch (using some battern front and back) and rehang the cabinet door an inch higher. That way the bottom of the cabinet door will not stick out and catch the frame of the DW. Good luck.
