Head spinning! Quick-Step floor? Aqua-step floor? I just don’t know what to choose!

Can anyone help please?

We are renovating our kitchen so are looking to replace the floor.

Part of the floor is concrete, part timber joisted with ply deck.

It’s important that the floor is waterproof as we have pets so I mop it a few times a week.

It’s a big kitchen and we need 38m2 so it’s not going to be a cheap job so we have to get it right first time.

I like the Quick-Step wood floor, the Quick-Step impressive has the ‘Hydroseal’ so is meant to be waterproof. The fitter said to get the best underlay we can afford so we are looking at the Quick-Step Thermolevel.

So, does the Quick-Step flooring need the joints sealing with a waterproofing glue? Do we need the edge beading or can the skirting boards just go down on it?

What else do I need to consider and if the Quick-Step is waterproof then what the heck is Aqua-step and is it any better?

Some help would be gratefully recieved. My fitter keeps pushing me towards using a local (his friend 🤨) flooring supplier and they are around £5/m2 more expensive than buying the flooring direct online.

I want to make sure I buy the absolutely correct stuff and have it all here ready so then he can’t complain if something is wrong or missing.

He wants me to buy everything locally as it’s easier to take it back or buy more if we need it so he says. Unfortunately shopping local doesn’t fit with my budget, I need to shave as much off as I can and every penny helps.

We have had quickstep perspective laminate in our kitchen for over ten years now. Not sure of its technical waterproof properties as it's so long since we bought it.
It is only now starting to show signs of water damage in heavy traffic areas - corners of a couple of the boards are starting to flake off. The wear and tear is relatively small and not very noticeable though. Floor washed / wiped about twice a week with water and has had a flooded washing machine attack it twice. Our kitchen needed 36 square meters on a timber floor, and we put thick thermal underlay down. Hope this helps you in your decision.

Thanks! That’s sounds like it’s weathered very well.

We have dark grey quick step in the bathroom, if you rub it with a damp cloth it turns the cloth dark grey and the floor goes white where it's been rubbed. Quick step did not want to know. I'm fuming. Whatever you choose get a sample and really give it a good test out.

I have quick step, muddy dogs in and out all day. It’s been fine. Don’t remember any gluing, etc. It just went down.

Hi - one of our elderly dogs is having odd accidents in the living room. We wanted to replace the carpet with laminate flooring and have checked on best for pets (our elderly dog also slips easily on floors). But everything I read says if a dog wets on the laminate flooring, it could cause warping etc unless cleaned up immediately. Unfortunately sometimes she has an accident during the night so that wouldn't always be possible.
I have seen Floors for Paws recommended as good for waterproofing and not being slippery. It's pretty expensive and it's vinyl florring. My partner remembers that as the cushionfloor stuff we used to get for kitchesns many years ago so it would be a hard sell (sending off for samples) but it's really pricey (*£45sqm) so just wondering if anyone has this and whether it's as good as it sounds and looks like a "real" floor?
Any help much appreciated!
