I live in a 1900 tenement with old lath & plaster ceiling. On Xmas day a large section of our upstairs neighbours sitting room ceiling collapsed. Thankfully no one hurt but scary stuff. Then yesterday we had a leak in our kitchen. Unfortunately it appeared the flat above or upstairs neighbours had a loose overflow on the bath which started to flood upstairs neighbours kitchen. Thankfully no damage was caused to our flat but my upstairs neighbour has been advised the probably the constant leak above him has cause extensive damage to his all his ceilings which should all be pulled down and that most likely we should consider doing the same as this leak will also have impacted our ceilings. Basically do you think this is true or do you think builder are trying to make money. The only reason we had the leak was because upstairs kitchen floor was pretty wet. This is the first time upstairs has actually been flooded as such but they have complained that they thought there was a water issue above them. Our ceilings all seem fine but now petrified. 😢
