Cleaning a bathroom extractor fan

How on earth do I do this? Bought this place 6 months ago and been putting off cleaning the filthy extractor fan since. It's a vent axla one and stuck to the ceiling (technical term).

spray degreaser type cleaner straight onto a cloth and wipe a bit at a time cotton buds for the bits that are too narrow for a cloth, put a wet wipe over the edge of a butter knife to get into the fans,

I would turn off the power, remove the fan, clean it on the draining board, I use a small paintbrush on the blades.

Wipe out the duct with a sponge and WUL.

If the fan is really bad, you can buy a new one that will probably be quieter. Most are about 100mm diameter.

vent axia.
removing the fan, could turn to a big job, wiring again and bits plaster around it may come off.
remove the front panel(1-2 screws) give it a good wash.
hoover the inside area,if you wish to remove the grease around the fan itself, switch it off, give a gentle spray and wipe.

Depending how bad it is once you take the cover off, it may well be worth getting a new one. They're not generally expensive.

It's had a sort of clean - I turned all the electricity off and went mad at it with cotton buds and degreaser and it looks much better!
