Victorian style column radiators

I'm looking at replacing some rads with dark coloured Victorian style column radiators and there seem to be a whole range of online and prices seem to really vary. I'll get some advice from the plumber too but does anyone have any suggestions of good websites for reasonably priced good quality ones please?

I found this company to be very good www.traderadiators.com/ They do offers throughout the year, and have free delivery. Customer service was excellent. I bought aluminium column radiators in a slightly more contemporary style. Really pleased with them

Thanks! Will check them out.

we replaced all our radiators with ones from here. They are based near Coventry. we went to see them before we bought them but ordered online. The service was great and they are much admired. A lot cheaper than some too.

We’re really happy with ours from here www.mrcentralheating.co.uk/radiators/column-radiators

Thanks for these suggestions. I'll follow them up.

Both Mr Central Heating and Best Heating seem to be good. I think Mr Central Heating has the better website in terms of search and being able to filter by output. We decided against fancy radiators in the end because the price difference was over £4k for our house!

Our plumber used mr central heating for his own house and is happy with them, so far all good and they look lovely, wish I’d been more adventurous with the colours now

squee123 · 03/01/2020 21:26

@foxatthewindow how big is your house?! It cost me just over £4k to put traditional cast iron rads throughout my four bed - 11 radiators in all

foxatthewindow · 03/01/2020 21:29

A little bit bigger, 18 radiators in all. It was a little over £5k for the column rads, and something like £1200 for standard k2 rads. But the deciding factor for me was actually heat output for the space available and some of them are awkward sizes as we have a lot of windows

I think we used a company called castrads ( based in Manchester) . They have a good website as well.

foxatthewindow · 03/01/2020 21:42

Just realised that sounds absurd. Some rooms needed more than one radiator to get the heat output required

squee123 · 03/01/2020 21:58

and there was me thinking you live in a mansion Grin

foxatthewindow · 03/01/2020 22:31

Not really - just a very cold old one with high ceilings and big single glazed windows

Hello,
I am looking at cast iron rads and I saw you recommended the Cast Iron Radiator company. I just ordered one today and am now panicking it may be the wrong colour (hard to imagine without seeing).
In a Victorian house (kitchen), with terracotta floor tiles and cream walls, what would look best, in your view? (I ordered Satin Black and it’s the scrolly kind with decorative detail). Would be so grateful for your thoughts and I hope this message somehow gets to you!
Emily
