Vacant Property Insurance

We are in the process of purchasing a property which needs extensive renovation work so we will not be living there for around 6 months.

Could anyone please recommend an insurance company which provides insurance for vacant properties?

Most of the companies I have contacted only allow properties to be vacant for 30/60 days.

Thank you

Towergate does it.

Home Protect and Adrian Flux too.

Towergate is very expensive. I got a policy from them last year, and then immediately cancelled it when I'd done more research and found I could do better.

Mine is with Unoccupied Direct - £147.75 for six months, to cover a detached two-bedroom house.

... with my policy, you have to have minimal heating on, water turned off, and arrange to have someone check on the property once a week, so I'm also paying someone £50 a month to keep an eye on the house.

Just received a quote (buildings) from Towergate we intend to go travelling leaving house unoccupied for a total of 5 months over 2 trips and quote is £140. With contents quote was £220

That's interesting, Powerplant - and also a bit weird. The Towergate policy I cancelled was around £500 for six months, and the house is empty.

Our quote is for 12 months insurance with 3 months vacant property for our first trip, returning home for a couple of months then away again for 2 months. I called them up for a quote so spoke to someone if that makes any difference.
