Help - Orangery/conservatory companies

Hi there, we are thinking of putting an Orangery on our house. Are there any companies you would recommend? All new to me and when I’m doing research they all seem to promise the world. Before calling any, I thought if anyone had any recommendations.
Cheers

No but make sure it isn't a glorified conservatory. There are enough threads in here about conservatories being too hot and too cold..basically useless except for storage

Whereabouts are you?

Becstar49 · 04/01/2020 11:06

BlueRose91 hi, we are based in Suffolk.

I’m must admit to being a bit overwhelmed with the amount of companies offering orangeries.....

What is the difference? Surely basically they are a greenhouse tacked on to your house masquerading as a living space?

longearedbat · 04/01/2020 12:40

Sorry, that was a bit unkind, but do make sure it's a space you can actually use for more than a few months of the year otherwise it's just a waste of money.

We have a Prime Oak orangery. I would t bother with cheap and cheerful. It won’t be a good product. Ours was around £70,000 9 years ago but it’s totally usable, and beautiful. It’s my kitchen and I love it every day. The doors open on two sides and it has very expensive glazing plus underfloor heating. Any expensive manufacturer will do a great job but you cannot go cheap or you get all the problems stated above. If you cannot spend over and above a standard extension, build a standard extension.

Thanks Bubbles ... love it!
I am hoping to go for a similar look instead of the usual bi-fold doors, but we'll see if I can afford it!

It doesn’t show clearly but there are two sets of French doors. We felt it worked better for us. There is glass on two sides only and that helps with insulation.
