We’ve just had our kitchen planned by wren, love the kitchen but we’ll be looking elsewhere after reading reviews.

Has anyone seen anything similar with the copper flash?

First picture is from the website, rest is our design.

Any comments on the design?

My issue is is that the table half blocks the doors anyway?

Where does the door near the sink lead to? Can you block it up?

Kitchenplan · 31/12/2019 17:49

To the utility/downstairs loo and toy room. That’s door is the only access.

Ah, ok.

justforthisnow · 31/12/2019 17:55

You could consider moving one or both internal doors, that'd free up loads of options. Could move toy room door closer to what looks like kitchen entrance door. But needs an architect to have a look.

justforthisnow · 31/12/2019 17:57

What is to the left of the Wren designed seating area? As in, is it a room?

foxatthewindow · 31/12/2019 17:57

Hmmm. I would keep the tall bank of units in the wren design as that gives tons of storage. I would put the sink on the back wall, keep the hob where it is. Then it’s up to you whether you go for peninsular or island. Either would work, island possibly better. You want some work surface near the ovens and also near the hob. If you want to build in seating then you could put an L-shape bank of seating under the window. It’s a difficult room to do because there are lots of doorways (we have a similar issue) but that’s probably the best use of space. You could probably get a petite sofa next to the french doors (we have a tiny one from Next) that would give some informal seating. And think about seating in either peninsular or island to help with guests

Floor plan of the downstairs so you can see where the doors go

@foxatthewindow the kitchen is essentially a big corridor! 😂

I get so frustrated at the moment with having the table in the way for going outside, to the toy room etc as soon as we have people sat at both sides of the table.

I'm not a great designer, so I won't try and help on that front, however, having used them for a v expensive large kitchen, I would never, ever advise you to go with Wren.

SwedishEdith · 31/12/2019 18:13

Can you block up door from lounge and create a door from the hall? Makes both rooms more usable.

Kitchenplan · 31/12/2019 18:15

Another potential although looks a bit cramped

Think my last post got lost 🙄. Anyway, pic attached. Move lounge door to the right, kitchen on left side of plan, what is that precious empty space between playroom and utility? Reconfigure it and gain a better utility. Dining space near garden doors.

Kitchenplan · 31/12/2019 18:17

@SwedishEdith there isn’t a hall. The stairs run straight from the front door up.

justforthisnow · 31/12/2019 18:17

You are going to have to accept the sink needs to move or all advice is useless.

Kitchenplan · 31/12/2019 18:19

The purple bit? That is the utility. It just has two large cupboards off it. One run of worktop with a washer underneath.

@justforthisnow - no pic attached.

My gadget acting up
Will try from ipad 🙄

foxatthewindow · 31/12/2019 18:24

It’s peninsular or island, but not both. And yes, the sink can’t stay there

SwedishEdith · 31/12/2019 18:28

The stairs run straight from the front door up.

So what's that space where the door from the lounge goes to? The door near the kitchen? Can't you create a kitchen door there at right angles?

ConfusedPupMama · 31/12/2019 18:28

What about having the kitchen run all along the left hand side of the room including in front of the window, and then have a dining table on the right hand side? Would that work?

Kitchenplan · 31/12/2019 18:29

Where do I move it to?

I want a long worktop space.

Kitchenplan · 31/12/2019 18:32

@SwedishEdith if you mean the one I’ve circled it’s the understairs cupboard

@ConfusedPupMama - like the wren plan?

Oh, I see. Right.

I massively appreciate all your comments, and hereby promise to post finished pictures if we ever make a decision!
