New kitchen units but saving the worktop

i have no idea if this is possible, our kitchen was replaced shortly before we bought our house, the cupboards are not our style at all but we have white quartz worktops and upstands which we love.

We thought about just changing the cupboard doors but the carcasses are a light wood laminate and we'd want to replace them with a dark colour (charcoal or navy) so this would look weird.

The worktops have been glued on with adhesive, does anyone know if we'll be able to safely remove and reuse them if we change the cupboards? We have over 9m of worktops so if we have to change the I don't think we'll be able to afford stone and I really don't want to rip out quartz and replace with laminate.

It is very difficult to get stone worktops off, and they are very heavy. you may need to saw through the cabinets as the glue won't break, and then scrape the undersides of the worktop smooth afterwards. Depending on length of worktop, it may weigh more than two strong men can manage.

The worktop might crack or break during handling.

You can get decor panels to cover the ends, backs and sides of your kitchen units if you don't like the look of them. Then you will only see their colour when you open the doors and look inside. On, for example, an island or peninsular, I think it looks good if you clad them with matching doors.

My kitchen is white but the carcasses and insides are all oak effect.
You can't see any oak from the outside, but as piglet John says, you need decor panels on the ends of units.
You can also get iron on strips to cover the front edges of the carcasses. It sounds rubbish but they really work and can give a neat finish.
Once installed and glued together, quartz will be a bugger to remove intact

Can you post a photo of one unit so that we can see existing cabinets?

Yes unfortunately it's not likely to come off. There isn't a huge choices of colours for cabinet interiors so a lot of kitchens have contrasting colours doors to the interiors, I don't think you notice when using day to day. I have sold white cabinets with blacks door before, the kitche had the wow factor when you walked in and used the space. I personal would stick with the cabinets but If it does bother you can get a new worktop, there are some nice white quartz in lower price groups. I m kitchen designer if need any prices or suggestions let me know.

I sold my old kitchen and worktops.
As it was being removed, The worktop broke where the cut out for hob was.
The sink section was glued in a L shape to another length and it was too heavy and large to get out the door (with 4 blokes lifting it!) so we had to break it at the sink then at the join.

So I'd stick with keeping as much in place as possible and swap out the doors.
My contrast inside colour was a choice and I really like the effect.

BTW I've had cabinets made in a dark wood effect laminate to blend with hardwood doors, and it makes the cabs dark inside. Difficult to find things at the back of cupboards or to clean.

Why not get the cabinets sprayed. Edges and end panels only or inside as well. There are lots of kitchen spraying companies around. I've not used them myself but have been looking at getting some built-in wardrobes sprayed.
We had a new kitchen a couple of years ago. And the panels supporting the quartz worktop over the washer and tumble dryer have been damaged by water from those appliances where they meet the floor. Clear silicone sealant would have been a good idea but too late now. I'll have to replace the damaged panels that are glued to the worktop. 😵
