Short deep baths

Can anyone recommend a short, really deep bath? I'm interested in Japanese soaking tubs but wonder if they're too compact.

I love a bath, not fussed about lying in one if I can still be submerged, but not much space in our bathroom.

Look at the Tubby Tubs from the Albion Bath Company. Pricey but beautiful short and deep bath tubs in traditional style.

Oooh, that's a good starting point. How deep are they in terms of where water can reach on an average adult?

Watching with interest! UK baths stop a few cm too long for the space I have, and ordering from abroad seems unnecessarily complicated.

We have an Omnitub and I really, really regret it. It’s a total pain in the arse with kids and there have been times both DP and I have wanted to have a proper bath. Plus it’s high so tricky for MIL to get into etc.

I loved the idea of it when we got it 8 years ago and have been saving up to replace ever since...

LittleLongDog · 29/12/2019 20:29

@wtftodo given the choice between an omnitub or a walk in shower: what would you have gone for in retrospect (with kids).

Sorry if I’m hijacking OP!

Not at all! This is really helpful!

Well it was fine for kids at first - though it’s quite annoying leaning in over a high sided bath to wash kids. If I genuinely didn’t have room for a bath (we did, but not a free standing/fancy one so I thought this would be the next best “special” thing), I would go for a big walk in shower and use a tub for babies/small kids.

Aw I’m lusting after an omnitub! Only read good stuff about them. I’m a shortarse and hate normal baths. Either sit up to read etc and the water is only up to below boob height, or lie back and submerge but can’t keep hair dry cos feet don’t reach the end properly.

V&A Baths ios bath, if budget and space will allow. I don’t have one but tried it in the showroom and it was remarkably comfy (though I’m only 5’3 to be fair).

How much space do you have?

orchidsarebeautiful · 30/12/2019 00:38

I have a deep but compact corner type bath that is more of a tub. I think it was Victoria Plumb but many years ago.

I love it as I can have deep water without using or heating lots.

CodYe · 30/12/2019 16:21

orchidsarebeautiful that's what I need. DC are 10 and over so no worries about washing them.

We have a 2200 by 1700 bathroom, so we currently have a normal bath but want to fidget around with the space.

I am listing over an omnitub as well but did wonder about bathing little ones in it. However they do longer versions of their deep baths now?

AteAllTheAfterEights · 31/12/2019 20:41

We have a tubby Torres duo from Albion. Bloody expensive but I do love it

coiner · 01/01/2020 20:40

I like the idea of a 1200mm one. They seem more functional.

Lilpanda · 01/01/2020 21:18

Yes I’m thinking of getting the solo plus which is longer but still deep for a good soak. But we are short folks so we don’t need much room to fit in :D if we have to be in there with kids!
