Pendant lighting over pull out dining table

We’re about to head in to a kitchen renovation and are currently making some decisions on new lighting. We’re having a few pendant lights over our island and I’d also like something similar over the dining table. The problem is, to save space, our dining table is pushed up against the wall on one long side with a bench underneath, and when there is more than just the two of us we pull it out for people to sit down that side. Has any one got any advice on where we should put the lighting? Should it be positioned over the middle of the dining table for when it’s up against the wall or for when it’s pulled out? I feel so confused! If you’ve been in a similar situation I’d love to know what you did.
Thanks!

Do you use it more often pulled out or pushed back?

Our pendant is in the middle of our dining table in its folded state because that's how it's used for 48 weeks of the year.

Can you put a very large Led dimmable flush light over the table? Say, a circle of 60cm diameter but only a few cm deep? It would spread light over a wider area. I would place it over the table in its normal place.

By flush I mean stuck on the ceiling with no chain or flex visible.

If you're pushing the table against the wall for most of the time then have wall lights or perhaps an adjustable height ceiling light over where the table will go when not against the wall.

How about a light on an arm, fixed to the wall, that you can fold back against the wall or pull out depending on where the table is?

I’d go for a nice wall light in that situation as a pendant will look odd for some of the time either way- you can get some lovely lantern style ones. I think a pendant only works over something which isn’t moved.
