Bathroom - moving toilet / fitting shower / inconvenient window

In the midst of buying a new flat which is going to need a new kitchen and bathroom. The bathroom is leaving me a little stumped at the moment - photo attached. I want to fit a shower (either over bath or shower enclosure, not too fussed) but because of the layout and the window meaning a shower can’t go above the bath as it is now, I think the toilet is going to have to be moved to the wall next to where the basin is, and a shower or half-size bath installed across the back wall.

How much of a ballache is this going to be? Is there another way of doing it that I’m missing? Any bright ideas? TY.

How much space is there where the sink is? If possible it would make more sense to move the basin next to the toilet and move the bath (or put a shower enclosure) along the wall towards/where the basin is now. Moving the toilet away from the soil pipe isn't ideal.

That was my first idea - unfortunately, there’s not quite enough width at that end for a shower, the door takes up most of the wall. Thanks though 🙂

I’d just get a ceiling mounted shower curtain rail. You’ll be able to shower in the bath and protect the window and the floor.

I’d also have a look at paperwork as you might not be allowed to move the loo or do it only with written permission as it’s a flat.

I would also go for a shower curtain as the easiest solution, the shower head being fitted to the wall adjacent to the window. Or you could turn the bath around so the taps and shower are at the other end and have a shower screen, but this might be expensive if you have to move pipework.

The space also seems a little tight for a shower screen.

@longearedbat and @JoJoSM2 - thank-you so much. Following your advice about ceiling mounted shower curtains and shower on adjacent wall I had a google and this came up - a wraparound bath screen. I think this is what I’ll be going with. Not the most stylish, but probably better than shifting a toilet about.

Thanks all! Smile

That’s quite clever. It looks like the screen slides open rather than swinging out so it should work very nicely in the space.

We moved a toilet from one outside wall to another and it was no problem. We had 3 quotes where 'plumbers' weren't keen, 4th one just said we need to move the toilet! Didn't even cost more than other quotes. I think it depends on whether you get a bathroom fitter or a real plumber.
