How long tomove a Washing Machine and install Dishwasher?!?!

So at present we have a Washing Machine in our kitchen, with no dishwasher.

Thinking of buying a Dishwasher and putting this in the space in the kitchen, and moving our Washing Machine to the Utility room, where there are plug sockets and an outside toilet.

How do we go about this? The plumbing etc? My partner is quite handy around the house so will be able to do this I'm sure, but we have not dabbled in plumbing that much before!

Install dw no issue, you don't need a hot inlet and can use cold inlet and existing outlet pipe. Creating th pipework and outlet for new wm site is what will take time.

Great thanks LIZS! Will do some research for that

just a thought - make sure both appliances have the power switch accessible. Not just in case you buy an exploding Whirlpool item, but as general good practice. They should be switched off when not in use. Stoptaps should also be easy to get at.

also be careful if you have a vinyl floor - moving heavy appliances is a great way to rip it! There are various tricks which may or may not work.

Very easy as both, washing machine and dishwasher nowadays need cold water, drainage and power, and a 600x600x840 space.

dishwashers tend to be a bit deeper, so if there are any pipes, cables or plugs in the recess, it will tend to stick out.

If these are free-standing machines, you will have time to make a pot of tea and drink it. If they are integrated, you will have time to make a cake as well.

The dishwasher will straight swap into the space left by the washing machine - as PP says, it needs cold water, electric, and outflow - same as the washing machine. Ten minutes tops - but be careful of scratching up your flooring.

The washing machine into the utility will need the same as it had before - cold water, electric, outflow. If those are already in place, five minutes. If they're not, you'll need to add them/get them added.

Adding them is not hard exactly, but it's a lot easier if someone who's done it before can be dragged in to advise! Adding a cold water outlet to an existing pipe in the utility is a fair size job, water off and drained and cutting into the existing pipe. Adding an outflow may be a matter of finding an existing point on the utility's sink trap, or may need new piping. If you need electric work done, that has to be done (or at least checked and signed off by) by a qualified electrician.
