So... I've got a stinking cold and can't sleep. Currently in a Premier Inn as we have no bed or anything in our house.
Last Friday we were told by top of chain move on 19th or it's off. We'd put up our Xmas tree and everything by then. To be fair on top of chain, they have cancer and are scheduled for treatment Jan 2nd so fair enough.
So we packed up our 3 bed home.
Exchanged this Wednesday to complete yesterday on Thursday.
Yesterday, 2pm rolls round nothing. Turns out first time buyers of the flat (flat are buying our house) had a completion statement through and there was a shortfall of £3k which hadn't been accounted for. It was to do with leasehold management fees for the block of flats.
Bottom of chain didn't have the money. They had to beg relatives but eventually got it to their solicitors and the money for everything started to move up through the chain.
By this point top of chain served notice down the chain for breach of contract and failure to complete on allotted time slot.
Solicitors at bottom and solicitors of flat are arguing who's responsible.
I believe our solicitor won't accept monies unless they include the interest for what has been charged. And neither will the solicitors above.
We're hoping to get it resolved tomorrow.
All the money for the chain is there apart from the interest charged as a result of breach of contract.
Why can't we all move in an solicitors argue in January?
At this rate the whole thing collapses and no good comes if it.
