Warm, hardy kitchen flooring

We're re-doing the flooring throughout the downstairs of our Victorian house. We are insulating under the floor boards and after spending a LOT of time down the Karndean vs vinyl vs hard wood vs laminate rabbit hole, have chosen good quality laminate.

Our kitchen is a different story though. There isn't a lot of space under the floor for the ideal thickness of insulation (although we will put in some at least). It is also the coldest room in the house with absolutely no direct sun ever. I love the aesthetic of patterned tiles on the floor. BUT is that cold madness? It the such a thing as warm tiles?

You can just get underfloor heating in the kitchen. It’s ideal under tiles.

I have researched quite about about ufh but think I have discounted it. We don't have funds to put in wet ufh and not keen on the reviews for electric ufh. Add to that that I need to have both a bin and a dog bed on the floor and it just won't work for us.

We're selling a lot of Malmo flooring at the moment; it's pretty good stuff, particularly for the price.

It's waterproof, anti-slip and has up to a 25 year domestic guarantee.

Stickdown vinyl goes for around ~£21 sqm
Rigid tile effect vinyl click with integrated 1mm underlay runs ~£27 sqm,
Embossed/textured wood effect vinyl click with integrated 1mm underlay runs ~£31 sqm.

It's flying out, particularly the tile effect and embossed.

Pic is one of the Stickdown colours.

Id say vinyl tiles. We've had the same issue with out kitchen being very cold. Tiles are too cold and hard. Vinyl isn't warm, but warmer than tiles. What about installing kick fan heaters in the kitchen?
I love the patterned tile style vinyl flooring but I feel it won't go in out house as it's too modern, but I bet would look great in a Victorian house

Get tiles but stick a rug under the areas you use most e.g. hob? Vintage style runners are v trendy at the moment.

Hard wood (if that's the same thing as engineered wood) is warmer than laminate, but the kardean-type vinyl will be warmer than both.

There is such a thing as warm vinyl tiles! Sorry I'm a bit late to the party but just putting my two pence in 😂 have you looked at luxury vinyl tiles other than karndean? Most luxury vinyl tiles are warm underfoot and are pretty damn good at keeping heat in?! We redid ours just before Christmas and we put vinyl down in the kitchen. Got it from here: www.lifestyleflooringuk.co.uk/vinyl-flooring

Got to say, I'm pretty happy with our choice. Spent ages agonising over Karndean too but went for Amtico Spacia in the end. Hope you get sorted!
