Built in dishwasher-freestanding? How easy is this?

When I had my kitchen re-done a few years ago I wanted all the appliances built in. But now the dishwasher has broken and I realise maybe it wasn’t a good idea. I ideally want to replace with a freestanding one. But have no idea if this is even possible. Would a freestanding fit in the same hole?

Has anyone done this without having to rebuild the kitchen units??

Slimline freestanding dishwashers are 450mm typically.

Ok, I guess until the old dishwasher is out I’m not going to know the space.

Depends how tight the fit is. We were able to get a tape measure around with door open. However you need to remember to allow space for pipes behind. If the space is small it can take some manoeuvring to plumb and wire in. Also is it plug in or hard wire?

From memory I think it’s a plug in.

My biggest concern would be the depth not the width. Built in ones tend to be not as deep so a freestanding with all the pipes behind it may be out of line.

Google your model if you don’t have the original user guide and check the dimensions of it and then when replacing it do the same with any potential newer model.

I don’t know what make or model it is. I can’t as yet find the info. It came for the kitchen company.

If it sticks out it’s not going to be an issue. It’s against a wall so it isn’t in the way.

There was no way a freestanding one would have fitted where the old integrated one was. They stick out miles but would probably fit width wise but you would still struggle to fit is as the 600 width for integrated will be absolutely tight and free standing ones are not designed to be in such a tight space

@MarieG10 thanks that’s honest and brutal advice Grin
