Just as the title says, are they as good as the ones in hardware shops that are x5 more expensive.

well If its the pound shop I try it cant hurt! mind grout pens aren't permanent.

Not what you asked but I used cillit bang black mould and my grout is good as new. Just spray on rinse off.

Thick bleach and a tooth brush...leave bleach to soak for few hours.

The grout isn't actually dirty, it's just old and discoloured. It's a private rental so not going to pay to get it redone and thought pen might work as short term solution. @mumwon yeah it's only £1 but if it's crap I don't want to then throw it away. It's a chemical after all and I'm trying to be conscious of stuff I buy (especially from the dreaded pound shops!) and in my head thinking I'll just throw it away, it was only a pound.

@littleducks will look out for that, the sealant around the sink is turning black and even bleach isn't shifting it. @earsup, I tried that in a previous bathroom, left it on overnight, had a shower only to discover that the bleach had eaten away the grout and the water had trickled through the tiles and made a crack in the living room ceiling. I'll maybe just leave it on for a few hours as you say.

I tried one once and the nip shredded really quickly, so I didn't get many done. I haven't used the more expensive ones to compare though.

The bleach thing never works for me.

This one is good. It takes ages (I did a wall a day) and it's messy, but it seems to be holding up. Expect to touch up/do a couple of layers in the areas the water hits. I used a baby toothbrush to apply.
