What can I do?

Hello, really hope somebody can help me. Not long in this house, and I need to remove this plug going through my living room wall from an outside light. I have attached pictures also. I've tried to remove the light but with no luck, it seems routed. I want to cut to plug off and feed the wire back outside so I can fill the horrendous hole in my wall. By doing this however, it will leave a cut and exposed wire outside. Surely this is very dangerous! Any ideas please???? I cannot look at this horrible hole in my wall! Angry

If I can see correctly, the outside light has a plug inside that you’d need to plug into the socket to turn it on? If so, then you can cut things up all you want as there’s no electricity in that wire. However, have you got a plan B for having the light outside?

Thank you for replying. Yes that is correct, the outside light has a plug (going through to the inside) which needs plugging in a socket to turn on. So I can cut the wire the plug is on to remove it from my house (the plug doesn't fit through the hole to push it through without cutting) it's safe to leave the wire outside like that? Plan B for the light...I will be needing an electrician in the near future, to update sockets etc. Will ask them to remove the light. However, I can't look at this ugly mess until that happens.

Was speaking to someone about this before and they said I shouldn't cut the wire as it could be live?

Just cut the plug off.

If it’s not plugged into anything it can’t be live! It’s not plugged in.

This is assuming it’s not in a plug socket and turned on at the time - obviously. It’s the same as cutting the plug off a Hoover, or toaster or kettle

Thank you. I'm nervous of anything electric so was unsure if it would be dangerous to have a cut cable outside. (Not plugged in!)

No, because it’s not plugged in to anything.

To ease your mind it’s like taking a Hoover, cutting the plug off, and standing it in a field in the rain.

Absolutely nothing bad can happen as there is no electricity involved. It doesn’t matter how cold or wet it gets, it’s just a load of metal, plastic etc.
