Would you live 200m from pylons?

Just that really. Looking at homes and ones near pylons are usually cheaper. Found one I seem to like and it's 200m from one so a couple of streets over and you can't even see them from the house

And you are worried about this because?

johnd2 · 13/12/2019 11:34

They aren't that pretty but if you can't see them unless you go out it's ok. Be more worried about a main road then pylons, as roads are also noisy and hazardous as well as ugly.

Spinderellacutituponetime · 13/12/2019 11:35

Nope.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 13/12/2019 11:35

Noisy aren't they?

Mumdiva99 · 13/12/2019 11:36

I wouldn't - not if they are the big buzzy electric ones. They set my teeth on edge - I think it must be the electricity vibrations. I would rather live near a busy road with the noise and traffic. But it's a personal decision as we are all different.

NemophilistRebel · 13/12/2019 11:37

No I wouldn’t

  • noisy
  • ugly
  • reduces house prices
  • harder to resell house again due to people worried about EMF
Reallybadidea · 13/12/2019 11:37

It wouldn't concern me personally, but I'd be concerned about resale.

wowfudge · 13/12/2019 13:36

If you cannot see them I don't see what the issue is at all.

theweebleshavelanded · 13/12/2019 13:40

no.

Same, they give me a really weird sensation of physical stress even when I'm otherwise not stressed.

Sushiroller · 13/12/2019 13:45

I guess someone has to but it would never be me 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

MerryGrinch · 13/12/2019 13:45

I use to live about 10 metres from one and has a beautiful view of it from my window Grin. It didn't bother me but I'm in an area where there are a lot of pylons and it definitely effects property prices around here

GetRid · 13/12/2019 13:47

No I wouldn't.

Google pylons and cancer risk

userxx · 13/12/2019 13:52

Yep, not a problem. Would be more concerned with living on or near a busy road. My house has gone up abut £90k in value since i bought it and houses around here sell overnight.

nespressowoo · 13/12/2019 13:58

We offered on a house near a pylon. I had the electricity board out to measure the EMFs. It was fine but we withdrew our offer due to the noise and I don't think I'd ever truly be able to relax knowing the cancer link.
