Bedroom damp - family staying at Xmas!

Looking for suggestions. Moved into this property in September which has bedrooms downstairs on basement level. As the weather has gotten worse, a problem with damp has made itself known in our spare room. Management company have been alerted and have carried out a survey. They say it won't be a quick fix and absolutely won't be sorted by Christmas.

Problem is, we have family booked to come over for Christmas (ferry's booked, we live offshore) and we planned for them to stay in that room.
I would give them our room, but I'll be 26 weeks pregnant!

Any suggestions about how to minimise the issue? I have a dehumidifier which has helped but there is still quite a musty smell.
There is no mould in the room, just a lot of moisture. Would it be safe even to stay in? Can I stay there instead of family even though I'm pregnant?

Quite likely that there is mould in the carpets (if any) and soft furnishings. Launder everything you can (but try not to dry it all indoors as that adds to the damp unfortunately)

Hopefully as nothing's been there that long (eg mattress etc) it shouldn't be too badly affected, but very important to keep the room heated and well-ventilated from now on, even when no-one is in there, to stop the damp settling an mustiness developing

Keep it as warm and ventilated as you can, they're the key factors.

Thank you both. Turning up the heating and opening the windows now! I'll give the carpet a good clean and the bed frame as it's fabric. No mattress was in the room luckily but there are curtains which we will wash. I'll also wash the walls and built in desk with a vinegar solution!

As a temp. measure get a dehumidifier and keep it on nearly all the time. It's amazing what they suck out of the air. If it's not one that cuts out when the reservoir is full, don't forget to empty it!

If you do use a dehumidifier just remember to close the windows or you'll be dehumidifying the world.
