Hi - just doing a massive renovation and limited money to do flooring at the moment - has anyone used vinyl click lock flooring? Will it do for a few years in open plan kitchen diner and hallway?
Thank you

yes ive just had it laid in my new kitchen and bathroom it looks great and its taken quite a bit of abuse already (dog and child), i used the luxury vinyl as it was more waterproof with the rooms it was going in

@ShmackAttack - great thanks! Which company did you use? I've seen one called
Spectra Oregon grey oak plank luxury click vinyl - UK flooring direct

I used it when I renovated my old place - it was cheap as chips and 6 years on it looked brand new

Brilliant thanks - going to look at some Karndean later today as I liked the look of it online so I'll wait til later to decide

Yes I've got it in my lounge, have 3 huge dogs and 3 kids and been brilliant. However depending on how your house is built this flooring has little or no thermal properties. Meening your room could get really cold, I noticed a huge difference after ripping carpet up and laying this. Hope it helps.

We've laid it over a small area and it's very good. Karndean have a limited selection of the click plank stuff, I think the cheaper options are much better choice and value (unless you want very authentic looking wood effect, perhaps).

I worry that a very large area might be prone to lifting a little in the middle (as badly laid laminate can) over a very large area.

depending on how your house is built this flooring has little or no thermal properties.

You can get thermal underlay, but not very thick. Laminate can deal with much thicker underlay and is similar unless you are putting it somewhere, like a bathroom, which would be prone to damp.

Dannyb182 · 30/11/2019 18:01

The thermal underlay is more if of a gimmick thing and does next to nothing, however.... Laminate is only similar in the fact that it goes on a floor. Lvt when laid properly is watertight, and far less prone to getting battered and looking rubbish within no time at all. My advice would be if you want the look of a real wod floor... Get a real wood floor, nothing is as good as the real thing and wouldn't get anything else again... But in the same breath even if I was skint, I wouldn't use laminate!! Hope that helps

Ps, it wouldn't lift in the middle of any room, the same as laminate won't unless it's Ben laid by a cowboy, this problem is caused by not leaving an expansion gap around the edge of the room!

Thank you all - lots to consider
