Can anyone help me choose a shower? Hansgrohe or Grohe.

Can anyone help me in choosing a thermostatic shower set.

I just keep going round and round in circles and am completely paralysed by indecision.

I'm hoping there are some members here that have been through this recently and can offer some recommendations.

I am looking for a shower that has an overhead shower head and a handspray. Not particularly bothered by having it concealed. It must be thermostatic. I'm not keen on digital.

Does anyone have one of these? I'm told that Matki showers are great so having trouble getting feedback. Have been told that Grohe and Hansgrohe are good brands but I don't know if one trumps the other?
My budget is £400 max. I have a pivot door, size of tray is 900 x 1000.
It seems such a punt to take as I don't want to make an expensive mistake.

This isn’t going to help at all, but I’ve a Crosswater as you described in four bathrooms in my house and I’ve been really happy with them so far.

I have a Grohe shower and a Matki cubicle and tray. The set up cost an awful lot more than £400 sevens years ago but tbf, i think the cost of the tray and screen was more than the shower valve.

Never had any problems with either.

We also have Matki shower tray and pivot door and grohle thermostatic shower with overhead and hand held shower , as said above the Matki products were more expensive than the shower definitely 4 figures 3 years ago but very very pleased with both

Aqualisa round mixer.

We had a Grohe Euphoria 180 just as you describe fitted earlier in the year over the bath and it was about £300 (I bought it off Amazon for plumber to fit). It's been great; I spent ages researching for different models but just had to plump for one in the end and the plumber was complimentary.

Obviously can't compare it to others available but so much better than the previous electric thing we had - I said the shower was the thing I was willing to spend money on.

We have a grohe, we basically wanted exactly what you want, overhead shower and hand shower to wash it down.
We got a round push button control with volume control twist like dimmer switches, and a thermostatic knob below it.
I think we probably spent about 400 in total on the shower bits, the mixer was the most expensive but is fantastic quality, and the large rain head has some water saving technology and it does seem good.
I assumed hansgrohe was the retail/consumer side of the brand as i saw them in shops, and grohe was the commercial/hotel side as i only found them online. But on reflection i have no idea!

You need to know how good your water pressure and flow is.
Grohe and Hansgrohe are designed for high pressure European systems and you may not get a great result in UK without a pump. Especially if you choose a rainwater design or other design that requires a large volume of water.
We recently put in a large Hansgrohe shower head in one bathroom and a smaller head by a British brand in another (Justtaps or Arteform, can’t remember, similar to Crosswater in style/quality). The cheaper smaller British one actually performs better. We have a pressurised system so should have decent pressure but it’s still not enough for the Hansgrohe.

In summary: Are you getting a pump? If not then go for a British brand of shower head. Crosswater, Bristan, Justtaps, Arteform, Aqualisa.

Shower enclosures: Matki are very good. Also look at Merlyn and Showerlab.

I doubt you’ll get any of these brands for £400 though (if that is to cover enclosure and brassware). Unless you find a heavily discounted option.

Aqualisa dream 3 - customer service is very good too.

I'm about to put in my third one!

Just to clarify grohe is a brand and has a lot of options. Many of them have to meet building regulations on water consumption so they have an ecojoy option on just about all the showers.
Ours is permanently set in ecojoy mode, it's a 20cm diameter rain shower and although you can tell you're not getting pelted with water, it's a good full shower not a dribble. Also saves a lot of gas and water.
You can even run two off our 24kw Combi boiler (in summer only!) and it's still usable.
