Sofas - any advice?

Hi

I'm looking for new sofas. We currently have an old Multiyork one that's been great but has reached the end of it's very long life. Second sofa is cheapy ikea one which has been lightly used but I don't like the style.

Currently looking at sofa.com Bluebell or Saturday sofa in Sandgate dark blue fabric but I'm worried as they are feather wrapped cushions they will start to look sad really quickly. Does anyone have a sofa.com sofa? How has it worn over time?

Also looking at Long Eaton sofas or Authentic Furniture s they seem more direct from manufacturer (same pricepoint but better quality maybe?) but I'd have to travel to visit the showroom.

What sofa do you have that's a few years old and still looks lovely and doesn't require daily plumping?

We've got a suede recliner from DFS. It's comfy, hasn't sunk like other recliners we've had, and needs no maintenance. We did have a cheap cord fabric one from DFS previously though and that did sink and look like a sack of spuds very quickly so I would avoid that type. Also had an expensive one from Furniture Village that turned out to be bonded leather rather than proper leather and it peeled after a couple of years. They didn't want to know.
Harvey's are good quality.

We have 2 Saturday sofas, one in dark blue brushed cotton and one in mustard linen. I love the colour and feel of the linen but the fabric doesn’t hold the cushion in place and needs puffing up after every use. The cushions also slip off when lounging. Whereas the brushed cotton sofa looks the same as the day it was bought 6 years ago. The fabric is firmer and so it just stays together better. Shame as I loved the mustard colour and the feel of the linen but it just doesn’t work for a sofa.

I have Wesley Barrell sofas. Still perfect after 20 years. All three have been recovered recently and now look like new. Very pleased with them but they were not cheap.

Thanks everyone!

I haven’t got a Harvey’s near me to go have a look at. Will take a look online.

Thanks for the heads up wasabi prawns -that’s really helpful to know about the fabric. The fabric I like is a synthetic one so the shop assistant said it wouldn’t stretch all that much so that’s good.

Bubbles - I looked up Wesley Barrel but apparently they’ve recently gone into administration which is a shame.

I bought our large four seater from James and Rose (it’s the Haighton model on their website) and we couldn’t be happier with it, much better quality than any of my previous sofas which all came from chains, and not hugely different in price. Plus a massive choice of fabrics.

I have two sofa.com Isla sofas. I can’t remember what the wording is on the website but I have one that is the type that needs plumping every day and one that is every week. I don’t recommend the one you plump every week - the seat cushion ends up touching the floor if someone sits on it and we have to resort the cushions even if someone sits on it for 5 mins! It is fairly old though (8 years) - the fabric is good (I think it is some form of herringbone, sorry my memory is terrible. The other is house linen and it has marked quite badly over time (think discoloured on the arms and seat from use). They are very comfortable though!
