Hi I live in Lowestoft and oh works in Norwich. There’s a Facebook group called we love Great Yarmouth. I think it depends on budget as obviously it gets worse the more central to Great Yarmouth. Gorleston is nice. Do you drive? Schools arnt great round here but then we moved from Surrey.

What's your budget and what sort of commute is your DH prepared to undertake? Do you want to live on the coast or further inland?

I would say the outskirts of Lowestoft are nice and not far from Yarmouth. As are some areas of Beccles. Worlingham is very nice. Loddon would also be a good.

What kind of area are you looking for op? Country side, village or town?

What sort of house and what sort of budget?
Caister, Gorleston, Belton popular if you are avoiding GY centre (which you needn't).

Acle or Lingwood to be nearer Norwich and use train line - rush hour drive into Yarmouth can be frustrating.

Beccles or surrounds for classier countryside.

Gorleston has a lovely beach, town has quite a few shops, cafes, Morrisons and a cinema. Several schools. Bradwell, Belton and Burgh Castle are all nice but not within walking distance from beach. Fritton, Somerleyton, are a bit posher but would have to travel for secondary school and not much available in Terms of shops, cinemas etc.

I would avoid Great Yarmouth main town, Southtown and Cobholm, they are much older areas and are suffering from some social deprivation, also they get flooded during very high tides and during rush hour and general summer season the roads become backed up as they are the main way into GY. Yarmouth itself is more or less an Island and if the bridges go down or if there's an accident you can't get in easily.
